About

Almost Social is a personal website. It covers technology, culture, and what it means to live an online life — with opinions, links, and the occasional longer essay.

The name

Almost Social describes a particular relationship with the internet that feels more honest than “social media user.” Present, but not fully in. Watching more than participating. Interested in the conversation without always wanting to be part of it.

It also describes how most platforms actually work: not quite connection, not quite community. Something that looks like both from a distance.

What you’ll find here

  • Links — commentary on things worth reading elsewhere, where the title links to the original source.
  • Articles — original writing, longer thoughts and analysis.
  • Notes — short observations that don’t need a headline.

The best way is via the RSS feed. If you don’t use a feed reader, NetNewsWire is free and excellent.
